You’ve heard of minimalism, but what about Minimalist-ish®️?
Here we’re about finding more with less, not nothing.
When I first discovered minimalism a few years ago, I LOVED the idea of living with less.
I was also in $120,000 of student loan debt and struggling with an emotional spending and overconsumption habit, so I decided to go all in on minimalism. I did a HUGE declutter, stopped shopping completely with a No Buy Challenge, and even paid off the remainder of my student loans in 2.5 years! Minimalism was great! Until…it wasn’t.
Soon I found myself feeling the pressure to declutter things I actually liked, and I started to deny myself even the simplest of treats because “I didn’t need it”. I realized I’d taken the pursuit of perfect minimalism a little too far. So after living my life at both ends of the extreme, from broke shopaholic to extreme minimalist, I decided “what if I went -ish, instead?”
Minimalist-ish is all about decluttering that “perfected” and sterile version of minimalism you only see online, and making it your own. It’s about curating your life with the things that bring you value, and getting rid of only what gets in the way.
But spoiler alert: what brings you value is completely up to you! Keep your books, your colourful clothes, and your sentimental trinkets if you want to. To learn more about The Minimalist-ish Method & intentional living every month, subscribe to my free newsletter below!
